Why is it we all need to have inspirational quotes handy?
Many times we have watched movies or read books where when a character is down in the dumps or lacking motivation, specific words of someone important like a parent or a teacher, or words we have read somewhere or heard someone say, flash through our mind. These words, potently and magically, energize and propel us to tackle the things that we are hesitating to do. These words, known as “inspirational quotes”, are generally words of wisdom or action, that strike a chord with us and render us the advice we are hungering for. They gather in them succinctly the collective wisdom of people from various generations, from various strata of life, from various states of mind and from people who are famous and some not so known.
“Inspirational quotes” have a beautiful property of lifting us up. Reading an inspirational quote is like drinking a cup of coffee. It gets us energized and ready to conquer the world. Just as after a few hours the effect of coffee wanes off, similarly after reading or hearing a plethora of inspirational quotes, these “quotes” become mere words on the page or the screen unless, unless we act on them. Just as drinking too much coffee is not good for our health and is only going to give us jitters, similarly, reading too many of the inspirational quotes is mere passive absorption of words that will make us feel good but waste our time. For the time that is not spent in action is a time that is wasted and if you do not spend your time wisely, time will not be kind to you.
Finding relevant inspirational quotes is not difficult. There are countless of them in the books and on the internet. The key is finding the ones that resonate with us, that give us insight into something that we are struggling with or that guide us and effortlessly imprint themselves on our mind. For not all inspirational quotes are suitable for all occasions or all people nor do they apply to all situations in life.
Most days when we are focussed on checking off our to-do list, we do not pay much heed to inspirational quotes. But when we are down in the dumps, is the time when they need to be handy and readily available; for during those times we are struggling with pulling ourselves up and it will be a far cry to look for these quotes. So if during our good times, we keep the quotes where they are easily accessible, then all we need to remind ourselves during our tough times is to seek them out.
Do you have a little book, or a document online, where you write your favorite inspirational quotes? If not, then make one. It helps to have quotes that are small and meaningful. Look through them when you feel a lack of motivation and energy. Or just come to my blog and soak up some of my favorite quotes. They will lift you up!
